The award-winning Film has been screened at DIFF Dubai, Beirut, Paris (won the Non-European documentary award at the European Independent film festival), Amsterdam, Brussels, Jerusalem, UK premiere was in the East End film festival in London, the Yamagata film festival in Japan and the Palestine film festival in Boston and the Carthage film festival in Tunis. Screenings in 2016 also included Houston, Washington, Cairo (won best film at the International Women’s film festival in Cairo), Tokyo, Geneva, Bristol, Amman, Sheffield and Istanbul. COMMERCIAL 1- Land Rover Rediscovery Film Producer/Director/Editor Produced and directed a film about vintage 8mm footage and photos of the Trucial states in the 1960’s. This never seen before footage we found in the UK is being used for a 4-Minute film I have directed for Land Rover featuring the photographer who lives in the UK and a host of local UAE people who comment on the rediscovery of memories. Am also editing and producing a 22-minute version of this film, as a documentary that is a historical document of the time, featuring several locations and people in the UAE who were here in the 1960’s. Shindagha Historic District of Dubai. 2-Consultant/Filmmaker Barker Langham Ongoing work with Barker Langham from the UK to conceptualize, write, and research all the film briefs for several waves of the Shindagha Dubai Historic District museum. Started in November 2017 and expected to continue till the end of 2018. 3-Capsule Arts Art consultancy in Dubai Producer/Director Produced and directed a five minute brand film for the team at Capsule Arts, which included shooting at Rove hotels, Nikki Beach hotel and the Kempinski hotel as well as other private locations. 4- Mastercard/Atlantis Digitas Lbi and Prodigious Director Directed two comedic videos for a special Mastercard/Atlantis offer on location at Atlantis. Each video is one minute long and included acting, improvisation work and a documentary feel. 5- Shindagha/ Dubai Historic District RAA/TGAC/APD Project management/Content Spent two months working with London-based companies RAA and TGAC on the new museums in production in the Dubai Historic District. Roles were partly project management and partly research for content development. 6- Shell Boomtown Productions BTS videographer/photographer Spent three days filming behind the scenes and photographing nature and crew on set in the desert in the UAE as part of a big production for Shell showcasing car stunts and dune bashing. 6- Comedy Central Arabic/ Dubai Segment Director “Comedy Ala Al Waqef” show Interviewed and directed shoots for 30 comedians performing in a new show on Comedy Central Arabia, in Stereo Arcade in Dubai. Responsible for social media, intro videos, behind the scenes, short interviews, and promos for five days on location. 7- National Geographic Abu Dhabi Director/Producer Nomad Productions, Dubai Produced and directed a half-hour film on the Union of the UAE and the history of how the UAE became a country, through retelling history from the perspective of older people who lived the changes in the country. We filmed in most of the Emirates. Film was commissioned by the RTA to be screened on National Day, 2016. 8- MAMEMO/ UAE Producer/ Director Produced and directed a 5 minute film on the history of the council for the 44th celebration of the Federal National Council in the UAE, as well as coordinating content, scenography and the rundown of the show which included dance, poetry and song. Emirates Palace, February 2016. 9- RED BULL/ Lebanon Producer/Director/Editor Produced, directed and edited an 8 minute film for Red Bull on Ras Beirut, vinyl and the fiftieth anniversary of a shop named “Chico” which is a cultural establishment in the area, and has been selling records, and films for fifty years now. 10- Strudel Films/UK/ Vimto, International Director Directed 3 films for Vimto in Dubai, Jordan, and NYC. They were the campaign to reunite people with their families for Ramadan. 11- Leo Burnett/Shufouna App/ Epic Films, Dubai Director Directed a 1.5 minute ad for the new art platform mobile application for Saudi. 12- Birdie Agency/Palringo/ Dubai Director Directed/produced six commercials for the mobile app Palringo. 13- Leo Burnett/ GMC Sierra/Epic Films, Dubai Director Directed four 20-second retargeting videos for the GMC Sierra. 14- LUX from Unilever/Epic films/Strudel films (UK) Director Directed shoots for Unilever for their new webisodes for LUX. Fashion contest happening in Saudi and Dubai. Directed three days of production and 4 episodes for the web on the contest. 15- EFE network Director/Post Supervisor Five films for their NGO’s based in Yemen, Jordan, Palestine, Egypt and Morocco. 3-5 minutes long. 16- Dubizzle Dubai Producer/Co-director/Editor Produced and co-directed and edited 5 videos for the launch of the new Dubizzle website. 17- Education for Employment, Washington, DC Director/Production Manager Conceptualized and directed a 6-minute corporate film for EFE about its network of affiliated organizations, in Yemen, Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, and Morocco. 18- Olive Group, Dubai Director/Editor Directed a 27-minute training video for HR purposes in training and development of Emirati youth in managerial positions. 19- Core- Division of Starcom/Vivaki, Dubai Branded Entertainment consultant Product placement, branded entertainment and integration of fast moving consumer products into TV shows, Films and radio programs- 3-month contract. 20- TDIC- various films, Abu Dhabi Director Directed a variety of short videos for TDIC in Abu Dhabi. Ranging from a profile of a labor camp on Saadiyat Island to filming the Dhow boats and fish market as part of the heritage of Abu Dhabi. 21- Think Like Air / TDIC, Abu Dhabi Director Directed a 6-minute event video for TDIC for the Saadiyat Beach Classic Golf course charity event, as well as a 2-min video on the two charities and the children of special needs in Abu Dhabi. 22- Baynounah TV, Integrity Media, Abu Dhabi Director Directed eight documentaries, all related to the Abu Dhabi 2030 vision, for broadcast on Baynounah TV. 23- Filmworks production house/ TDIC, Abu Dhabi Director Directed a 6-minute video for TDIC for the launch of the Saadiyat Beach Classic Golf event. 24- Baynounah Group and Integrity Media, Abu Dhabi Director/Producer/researcher Produced/Directed 30 episodes of a TV show titled “My life in my city”, in Arabic. 25- Abu Dhabi Art, TDIC, Integrity Media Producer/ On Site Director Filmed on location at the Emirates palace for TDIC. Interviews, coverage, galleries, events and workshops. Supervised the editing of a 45 min documentary for on the Abu Dhabi Art platform. 26- GM/Chevrolet, Core media, Dubai Director Webisodes for Chevrolet featuring the characters Hiroshi and Osamu. A comic 8-part series, between 3-5 minutes each, released weekly on the MBC website. 27- Middle East International Film Festival Animation Art, Abu Dhabi Story Producer/Segment reporter Interviews with filmmakers/celebrities, coverage, research, editing and presenting segments for a daily 45 min show on Abu Dhabi TV. 28- Sheikh Zayed Book Award, Veritas Films, Abu Dhabi Producer Produced two films for the Sheikh Zayed Book Award ceremony. 29- Abu Dhabi Excellence Award, Veritas Films, Abu Dhabi Producer Produced eight short videos for the Abu Dhabi Excellence awards. 30- Higher Colleges of Technology Film Director Directed a 7-minute film for the Higher Colleges of Technology in the UAE. 31- Signature Productions and Future TV, Beirut Scriptwriter/Assistant producer Researched, wrote and coordinated the studio production of the weekly two-hour program “Ya Omri,” which featured the Arab World’s most significant artists, actors and musicians. 32- Orbit Satellite TV, Beirut Reporter/Segment Director Researched, wrote, presented on camera, directed and edited over 300 short documentaries for the daily three-hour, live show “Oyoun Beirut,” including cultural, artistic and political events. 33- Future TV, Beirut Segment Director/Assistant Producer Researched, directed, edited and produced short documentaries for “Disney Club.” WRITER 2014- 2015 Freelance writer for Campaign Magazine and The National newspaper in the UAE. Copywriter for Avenue Media, Dubai. 'The Present": Wrote a 20-minute fiction film for Farah Nabulsi, for Palestinian short films in her platform “Oceans Of Injustice”. Today they took my son: Wrote a 10-minute voice over poetic narration for the short dramatic film, produced by Farah Nabulsi and directed by Pierre Dawalibi. 2016. This feature script was in the Torino Film Lab Interchange program with DIFF. “More light than death could bear” volume of poetry, 2007 by Xanadu*, Beirut. PRINT/POETRY Uncommon Guide book: Dubai edition Editor Commissioned 50 contributors to create a literary and art photography guidebook to Dubai, hired by the Europe based company Uncommon, ltd. Literary writing, routes, maps, photography, graphics, illustration and poetry in 2014. “The Poeticians” Founder/MC I established and ran a poetry group in Beirut, which now exists in Dubai. The group, curated and hosted by myself, performs poetry and spoken word monthly. Poeticians Anthology “Nowhere Near a Damn rainbow” Editor Published by xanadu* in Beirut, this is a 300 page anthology of about 30 poets in Beirut and Dubai. Residencies/Labs: 2010: My feature narrative film “This war on Love” was selected as a participant in the Interchange Script and Director Program from the Torino Film Lab in collaboration with Dubai Film Festival. 2011: I was awarded a 12-week writing residency at the Iowa University International Writers Program, starting in August till November 2011. During the residency, I performed at the City of Asylum Jazz poetry festival in Pittsburgh, as well as taught spoken word classes to students in New Orleans, Senior citizens in Iowa City, and performed numerous times for community centers, Iowa University, libraries, etc. Select Performances: 2017: Performed poetry at Sukoon readings in Mansion in Beirut. Hosted & curated a 2-hour Poeticians event at the historic building of Beit Beirut in their opening show called “Sacred Catastrophe: Healing Lebanon” in October 2017. 2106: Performed an hour and half of poetry at the Bristol Palestine museum accompanied by the music of Chai For Three in December 2016. 2015: Half-hour performance of poetry in Beirut at the Poets & Performance festival in May 2015, hosted by University of Rennes in France and the House of International Writers in Beirut. Performance at the Deklamons festival in Rennes, France. March, 2015. 2014: Performed poetry three times and held panel talks at the Lodeve “Voix de la Mediterranee” poetry festival in the south of France, summer 2014. 2013: Poetry at the Erich Fried Literaturehaus festival in Vienna, Austria. November 2013. 2012: Performed at the Literature festival in Dubai. Hosted Poeticians events in Sikka/The Lit fest. 2011: Spoken word/ panel talk at the Berlin poetry festival, then at the Frankfurt book fair/Berlin Literaturewerkstatt later that year. In November, I performed a multi media (Poetry, music, photography) 20-minute piece for DIPAF, Dubai. 2011- The Emirates Literary Festival and the Sikka Art Fair. I also hosted and performed poetry at the Ladies Night charity show at the Fridge, with female artists from Dubai. 2010- Performed poetry and gave a talk about filmmaking, by invitation from poet Ethelbert Miller, at the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington. 2009- Performed poetry at Alwan for the Arts center in NYC, and at Howard University in Washington DC. 2007- current: Beirut/Dubai monthly events in different venues as part of the Poeticians meetings.
