Biography
Moufida Fedhila, a graduate of the European Academy of Art in Brittany, studied philosophy at the Sorbonne University before training in film production in Paris. Moufida Fedhila is a film producer, a filmmaker and a visual artist. Her works has been shown in numerous exhibitions around the world and are part of several private and public collections such as the National Art Fund of the Tunisian Ministry of Culture and the Kilani Group Art Fund. Keys figure in the Tunisian artistic and cultural landscape, she is often invited to international symposiums on creation and freedom of expression in a post-revolution Tunisia, as the Photography and the Archive Research Center (London), Pantheon-Sorbonne University (Paris). Her work is the subject of studies by academic researchers and publications such as the ‘‘Narratives of Social Protest: Personal and Political’’ at Columbia University (New York). Combining her strength in artistic direction and production, Moufida Fedhila founded with Mehdi Hmili Yol Film House in Tunis and produced several awarded fiction and documentary films between Tunisia, France and Canada. These award-winning films (Best Africain Film in Durban International Film Festival, Best Short Film Prize in Cinema Africano Festival in Milan…) are also selected in the Production Forums as Qumra of Doha Film Institute, the Rencontres de Coproduction Francophone in Paris, Durban FimMart, the Producers Network of Carthage Film Festival, Cinelink of Sarajevo Film Festival, FIDADOC, and the Film Prize of The Robert Bosh Stiftung. Her film '‘AYA’’, the last ‘‘Yol Film House’’ production was selected in more than 100 film festivals such as Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival and NewFilmmakers Los Angeles in partnership with The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The film won more than 15 award such as the Golden Tanit in Carthage Film Festival and the Golden Dhow in Zanzibar International Film Festival. “FOULEDH”, Our last Feature Documentary Germany coproduction was selected to be part of the workshop Produire Au Sud of Nantes 3 Continents Film Festival at FIDADOC and won the Tunisian CNC development Grant. The film was selected at the Producers Network “Chabaka” of Carthage Film Festival and also selected in CineGouna Springboard Projects and won an award at El Gouna Film Festival. “FOULEDH” is one of the final nominees to win the Robert Bosch Film Prize 2019 and is selected in La Fabrique Cinema Institut Français in Cannes Film Festival 2019. Moufida Fedhila chaired the Short Films Jury of the 3rd Gabes Film Festival. She is a regular member of the jury in several film festivals in the Maghreb and in Europe as the Francophone Cinema Awards, Tunisian Short Film Nights, Amazigh Issni N’ourgh Film Festival. President of Tamess Association, she creates in 2018, ‘‘Fekra Film Factory’’ a short film Lab to support young Tunisians filmmakers from development to production. At the 34th Vues d’Afrique International Film Festival in Montreal, she received a tribute for all of her work. Moufida Fedhila is a member of the Francophone Academy of Cinema. She lives and works between Paris and Tunis. Her work has been presented at: La Biennale di Venezia, Marta Herford Museum, Zentrum Paul Klee, Ifa Gallery Berlin-Stuttgart, Kunstraum Nïederösterreich in Vienne, P21 Gallery in London, Friche La Belle de Mai, Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik, Dakar Biennale, Carlo Biloti Museum, Pratt Institute in New York…
