Biography
Abir Hashem started her studies in law; but, found her footing in the film industry and over the years had gained experience working with several filmmakers; this was the head start for her experience in the creative documentary filmmaking. Abir worked as an assistant, executive producer and producer of documentaries, corporate videos and commercials as well as short films. Abir had participated in Docmed for a yearlong training program on creative documentaries for Arab producers with her film “Asphalt”. This workshop gave her the ability to give mentor classes at the institute for media training and research at LAU (Lebanese American University), where she trained Iraqi journalists on funding strategies for independent documentaries in the Arab world. On another level, Abir acted as the managing director of DocuDays ‘Beirut International Documentary Film Festival for 5 years. Moreover, Abir was selected as jury member at Tampere short film festival in Finland 2017 and Tehran International Short Film Festival 2017 for International films. Currently, Abir is producing her independent films in addition to providing production services for international production houses. Technically, Abir owns her camera gear, SONY a7s2 + Lenses + Tripod, with knowledge of use as professional.
