Biography
Born in Oran in 1982, Sofia Djama is an Algerian scriptwriter and director. In the early 2000s, after studying literature at the University of Algiers she devoted herself to writing shorts stories. Algiers, where she lives then, becomes a full-fledged character of her work. In 2011, she made her first short films, Limply one Saturday morning, an adaptation of one of her short stories. Encouraged by the awards received, including two prizes at the International Short Film Festival in Clermont Ferrand, Sofia devotes herself to writing her first feature film, Les Blessed, which will make its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival and which is received the best actress award to her young performer Lyna Khoudri. Even before the official record, the filmmaker won two awards at this international festival: the Brian Award and the Lina Mangiacapré Award.
